Guided Meditaion: A Peaceful Place to Listen

Begin by relaxing, sitting or laying down feeling  at ease with your environment.  Tend to any distractions which may call your attention away.  Now begin to relax completely…let all tension begin to slip away, as if draining from your body and mind into the earth…begin to notice the rhythm of your breath, as you breathe deeply and slowly…notice the gentle rise and fall of your torso as you inhale, and exhale, gently, rhythmically at your own pace…breathing in…breathing out…inhale…exhale…relaxing more and more deeply.

Now imagine yourself walking down a beautiful path in nature, it is so easy to stroll down this path which will lead you to a peaceful sanctuary of your own.  Walking slowly down the path , taking in its beauty, you begin to notice that the path is leading to an opening ahead.  Walking you see that there is a shift in the terrain as the path opens into your sanctuary.  Stepping across this threshold and you find yourself in a tranquil, peaceful place in a natural environment.  It could be a place you have been to in the past, a favorite place to visit.  It can be a real place or an imaginary beautiful place, wherever it is, it is peaceful and you feel safe being alone there.  It is your peaceful place.  Also acknowledge that nothing or no one can bother you there, maybe there is an invisible boundary protecting this space for you while you are there.  Maybe  the area is surrounded with a golden light of protection.  Feeling absolute safety.  Now bring your attention back to your breathing, feeling deeply relaxed and at ease.  

Now begin to look around, maybe you are sitting or standing.  You can move around if you wish.  Look around, notice the beauty surrounding you.  Notice what time of day it is by the light, is it a sunny day?  What time of year is it?  Are there clouds? Is there a breeze or is it still?  Are there any sounds you are aware of?   Are there any smells you enjoy?  Just noticing.  Taking in your beautiful peaceful place.  

Feeling fully at ease, begin to notice your body…notice how relaxed you feel, how free of strain.  Now find a lovely spot to sit, you are going to bring your attention to your inner awareness and the voice of your spirit.  Sitting comfortably, bring your awareness to the rhythm of your breath, the inhale and the exhale.  Begin to listen, maybe you hear just a whisper at first, or maybe it is a distinct clear voice.  Maybe your spirit speaks to you in images and symbols.  Just notice without judgment, just noticing.  Breathing and noticing.  You will know your inner voice, it will feel true, it will feel free, it will feel joyful. What is the message?  What do you hear ?  What do you sense?  Breathing, inhaling and exhaling.  Trusting you will remember all that is important to you.  Now thanking your higher self for this experience, turn your attention back to the beauty of your surroundings.  Acknowledge once again how relaxed and good you feel.  Getting up, you turn towards the place where you entered this peaceful sanctuary.  Begin walking towards that place where the path begins.  You may turn and look around one more time, recognizing the beauty.  Now turn and step onto the path, knowing that you can come back to this peaceful place any time you wish to.  It is uniquely your peaceful place, and will always be there for you.  Walking down the path you notice that your body feels relaxed, your breathing is rhythmic and you feel at ease, knowing your truth.  The path comes to an end beside you where you are sitting or lying down.  Begin to wiggle your toes and fingers.  Maybe take a deeper breath, allowing yourself to fully return to your body and the awareness of the present moment of where you are.   Feeling fully present, open your eyes and feel the existing awareness that you are relaxed and at ease in the present moment.
